作品について | About Works, "SUEKI"
朝鮮半島が起源とされている「須恵器（すえき）」。日本で初めてロクロと窯を使って作られた本格的な焼物であり、その後の中世の焼物へと発展していったと考えられています。国内に残るものとしては5世紀中頃のものから確認されており、須恵器生産が始まった場所（窯跡）としては、福岡県の小隈・山隈・八並窯跡群とともに、大阪府南部の丘陵地帯に分布する陶邑窯跡群が知られています。7世紀頃に最盛期を迎えた須恵器生産でしたが、その後10世紀頃には廃れてしまいました。
大阪平野と周辺に分布する大阪層群といわれる地層には、良質の陶土が多く含まれています。書家としても活動する吉見螢石は、生まれ育った大阪・泉州地方の古代文化である須恵器と、東洋固有のタイポグラフィである「書」との融合を目指しています。
須恵器の特徴はその色にあります。閉ざされた窖窯の中での1,000度以上になる高温焼成の過程で起こる還元作用により、成分から酸素が奪われた土の表面には、青味と黒味がブレンドされた独特の深い色が出現します。野焼きの赤っぽい色味とは対照的なこの色こそ、螢石のコンセプトカラーであり、窯入れの度に追求する永遠のキャンバスです。
彼女のイマジネーションによって作品に描かれた書は、須恵器の深い風合いと相まって、静かな躍動美を醸し出します。「ジャパネスクグレー」とでも表現したくなるモノトーンの美しい小宇宙。大胆でそして繊細な彼女の作品を、ぜひお楽しみください。
"SUEKI" in which Korean peninsula is assumed to be origin.It is real pottery made in Japan with a potter's wheel and the first kiln, and it is thought that it developed into the pottery in the Middle Ages afterwards. As what remains in Japan, it is checked from the thing about the middle of the 5th century.For the place where the production of earthen vessels originated, SUEMURA Kiln site group at hilly areas of South Osaka are known with OGUMA-YAMAGUMA-YATSUNAMI Kiln site group in Fukuoka Prefecture.Production of "SUEKI" entered mature stage in around the 7th century, but after that it went out of use in around 10 centuries.
A lot of good quality potter's clay is contained in the stratum named OSAKA-SOUGUN distributed in Osaka plains and the circumference. Kieseki YOSHIMI, to be active as a calligrapher, aims at fusion in the "SUEKI", ancient culture in SENSYU-Osaka where she was born and grew up, and the "Calligraphy", the oriental specific typography.
The feature of "SUEKI" is in the color. By the reduction which happens by hot burning process in closed Kiln more than 1000 degrees centigrade, the peculiar deep color with which blueing and darkness were blended appears on the surface of her "SUEKI", where oxygen was taken away from an ingredient.This color taste, in the opposite side with the open burning one's red, is her concept color, and It is a canvas of the immortality to pursue at every kiln putting.
The calligraphy drawn on works by her imagination, creates Quiet-Lively-Motion-Beauty, along with the deep texture of "SUEKI".The beautiful microcosm with monotone color, feel like expressing with "Japanesque gray".
